Our NAP table explained
Maybe for you horseracing is like it is for so many; something you thoroughly enjoy when you place that fun bet once or twice a year on the big race, perhaps on The Derby or The Grand National or simply because a horse's name jumps out at you for some quirky reason. But it's also probably true that it's not something you feel you'd like to find yourself too financially exposed to. Well maybe this is just the place for you - our NAP table is all about being low on risk and high on fun.
Informal NAP or NAPs tables have been around for some time in pubs and social circles but often only a select few racing experts dare venture to take part. Well I can tell you it's not just racing expertise that moves our NAP members up the table, typically it's a bit of luck, a fair amount of bravery and of course a dash of racing knowledge!
If you took the time read the numerous definitions of a NAP, eventually once you've trawled through the more obvious explanations; 'a brief sleep... often during the day', 'the direction in which fibres lie when smoothed down' and even 'a card game that resembles whist' you'll finally reach the definition in horseracing terms: 'to name a horse as likely to win a race', or as we play it 'to win or finish each way'.
So take a tour of our site and see what we're all about, you'll soon realise we are just a small circle of friends that enjoy the thrill of selecting a horse each Saturday to win or finish placed, hopefully gaining some valuable points and progressing up our NAP table. We are not a business or indeed a betting website and seek to make no profit, rather we share the prize pot in its entirety between the winner and two runners up over both the jump season (National Hunt) and the flat season each year.
We take pleasure from making a successful each way selection and delight in the occasional winning selection... along with the associated bragging rights. Some of us meet for drinks and dinner during the season and toast past and present winners and on occasions we even compare our varying selection tactics.
It's really quite a lot of harmless fun!
